During the period 11–13 September 2026, in Ohrid,was held the International Scientific Conference, as part of the project“Innovative Scientific Solutions for Reducing Social Inequality and the Informal Economy in the Republic of North Macedonia through Tax Regulation”, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia..
The Conference was held in a roundtable format, during which the research team presented its work and research findings to date, as well as its proposals. The research team comprised Prof. Aleksandar Stojkov, Prof. Aleksandra Maksimovska Stojkova, Prof. Jovan Zafiroski, Prof. Elena Neshovska Kjoseva, Assistant Professor Konstantin Bitrakov, and Ana Marija Mihailova, LL.M., PhD candidate.
The discussion brought together distinguished professors and academic researchers in the fields of tax law and economics from the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Bulgaria, as well as from several universities in the Republic of North Macedonia.
We extend our special gratitude to the Director of the Public Revenue Office for her active participation and valuable contribution to the discussion.
The Conference provided an opportunity to present and critically examine the results of one year of research, as well as to exchange knowledge and experience with national and international experts. The conclusions and recommendations arising from the discussion will be forwarded to Macedonian policymakers, as a contribution to the future advancement of tax regulation.
The Conference marked the conclusion of an important period of academic research, international exchange, and cooperation, aimed at identifying innovative and sustainable solutions for reducing social inequality and the informal economy through improvements in tax regulation.
We would like to thank all participants and collaborators whose knowledge, presence, and active engagement enriched the Conference and contributed to making it a fitting culmination of the project.
A team from the Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law in Skopje—Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Maksimovska Stojkova, Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Stojkov, Prof. Dr. Jovan Zafiroski, and Prof. Dr. Elena Neshovska Kjoseva—released a research visit to the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade, from 22 to 24 June 2026.
During the visit, the team participated in the traditional "Tax Evening" (Poresko veče), organized by the Serbian Fiscal Society and the Faculty of Law, University of Belgrade. They also held a working meeting with colleagues from the International Fiscal Association (IFA) Serbia, focusing on strengthening academic and professional cooperation.
Particular emphasis was placed on future collaboration with the Centre for Clinical Legal Education and Research in Tax Law and Public Finance at the Iustinianus Primus Faculty of Law in Skopje. The Centre will be established within the framework of the research project "Innovative Scientific Solutions for Tackling Social Inequality and the Shadow Economy in the Republic of North Macedonia through Tax Regulation," funded by the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of North Macedonia.
This research visit represents an important step towards strengthening regional and international cooperation in the fields of tax law and public finance.
